I’m writing a book (well, it’s written, but knowing that something is ‘done’ is tough…) - called Who Do You Ask When No-one Knows, which explores the idea of solving problems and questions in the space of the unknown… Which, to my mind, is the more interesting space.
For example, these days, whatever the subject, someone usually does claim to know. How would you know they were right?
Is the question knowable or unknowable? What level of confidence would you be comfortable with, before you act…?
So, in crowd sourcing this a little, is there something I should cover that I might have missed? Any big or small questions?
Great idea for a book. Provocative and practical
Not sure if this is covered, but one syndrome I find everywhere in business, and getting worse every day, is the inability to make decisions with incomplete or ambiguous information. The constant ask for more and more data, that often piles up unused, is not only costly but freezes companies when they should be nimble.
I think … alternatives. What are they? What is the second best explanation/solution/idea? In my experience, if the “second best“ sounds trivial, the first one likely is not thought through. If the second best sounds interesting - that gets you somewhere. (Including- what’s the third best?)
